Springboard Opportunity Group is a community-based charity supporting children from birth to five-years with disabilities and additional needs, and their families.

Location: Clevedon & Weston Super Mare, North Somerset

The group runs 23 structured, specialist play and learning sessions across four centres, as well as Stay and Play sessions for families with very young children.

Springboard Opportunity Group works in partnership with local education, health and social care professionals and agencies as well as local preschool providers and schools to improve the outcomes for children who are experiencing life changing difficulties.

The group works to provide specialist and personal support to families who struggle to find the early help they need whilst coming to terms with their child’s difficulties. Springboard passionately believes that no family should go through this life changing experience alone.
Parents and carers can also access workshops and groups where they can receive Springboard and peer-to-peer support.
The group works with around 100 families and children a week to ensure that they get the best possible start in life in a safe and tailored environment.

Joanne Harris, CEO at Springboard Opportunity Group, said:

Springboard are extremely proud to be amongst the finalists for the Groundwork Community Awards. Our team of staff and volunteers work tirelessly to provide support for local families. Having a young child with special needs or disabilities is a life changing situation and we are all fully committed to providing the best possible help for the children and their whole family. Some days can be very challenging but there are always positives and feedback from parents confirms that Springboard are a vital life line for them. This award helps reinforce the message that we are here and that what we do is appreciated.
