Find out moreDo you know a local hero or group of heroes that deserve recognition? Nominate them for an award in one of the ten Community Award categories. Groups can also nominate themselves for an award.
Groundwork Community Awards recognise the contribution of groups and individuals across ten categories. In addition to the ten main categories there is a special category, the People’s Choice award. The winner of this category is selected by a public vote from the finalists.
Green Space
This award recognises the many benefits that high quality community green spaces bring to their neighbourhoods.
Community Cohesion
This award is for the groups that unite people from different ages and backgrounds to tackle issues together.
Health and Wellbeing
This award recognises the best community group contribution to improving health and wellbeing in their area.
Partnership with Business
Community groups are invited to showcase their business partnerships and how it has added value to their work.
Education or Employment
This award recognises the vital role that community groups play in helping people into work or through creating employment.
Environmental Sustainability
Many solutions to global environmental challenges start with community-led behaviour change at the local level.
Sport or Physical Activity
This award will celebrate the work of local community groups to increase participation in sport and physical activities.
Community Leader of the Year
This award celebrates the inspiring individuals that help communities to improve places and lives.
Young Leader of the Year
This award is for people under the age of 24 who are taking the lead in making their communities better.
Community Group of the Year
This award honours the group that exemplifies what can be done when people work together.
People’s Choice Award
The winner of this category is selected by a public vote from the all of the thirty shortlisted finalists.

The winners of the Groundwork Community Awards 2019 were announced on 21 November 2019 at a ceremony designed to recognise and celebrate the work of local community groups making a big difference where they live.
Thirty finalists from up and down the UK were invited to the ceremony at the Royal Horseguards Hotel to crown the ten winners who work tirelessly to be the change they want to see in their local community.
BBC presenter and Groundwork Ambassador, Georgina Burnett, was on hand to announce the winners.
