Where are they now? Groundwork Community Awards Finalists 2018 – Grow 73

Grow 73 is a community gardening group who were awarded charitable status for their work to bring the different generations together through shared gardening activities, environmental improvements and events.

Grow 73 secured funding from Tesco’s Bags of Help to create a sculpture trail incorporating themes of art, heritage and environment ‘the Ruglen Ropewalk’ – a project entirely led by Grow 73 volunteers and involving local people from two care homes, a library heritage group, seven primary schools, Grow 73 volunteers and the Community Payback Team.

In the last year, they have been working hard towards the asset transfer of three disused bowling greens in their local park and are now working towards transforming it into a community growing project.

In addition to planning our their big community growing project the team have also used up all of the material from  their Ruglan Walk Rope project and this will transform into a large mural at their local train station in Rutherglen.

They are on their 5th annual The Big Lunch to bring all different members of the community together.

The Groundwork Community Awards will take place on the 21st November 2019
